Bringing the graph in…
The graph view from the app, live: click a node to bring in its connections, open Notes to read the stories behind them, switch to Shape to see the schema, or search to ask a question. Scroll with two fingers to move around; pinch to zoom.

Your own schema

Define node types, relationship types and the properties each one has.

Questions in plain English

AI turns your question into a Cypher query and runs it on your graph.

Claude Code and Codex

AI runs through your Claude or ChatGPT plan. No API key.

Local-first

Graphs live on your Mac in an embedded graph database. Vector search runs on your Mac too.

Schema

Design your own schema

Create node types like Person, Idea or Paper, relationship types like PROPOSED or BUILDS_ON, and the properties each one has: text, numbers, links, yes or no, or a list of options. Or describe what you're mapping and let AI propose the schema.

Change the schema whenever you like. The database follows it.

Adding a type and a relationship in Shape view.

AI search

Ask questions in plain English

Type a question. AI turns it into a Cypher query, runs it on your graph, and the answer appears on the canvas. You can open the query, change it, and run it again.

Search by words or by meaning without AI. Both run on your Mac.

A question in plain English; the answer appears on the canvas.

AI drafting

Build your graph with AI, one approval at a time

Paste a link, a PDF, a picture or your notes. Claude or ChatGPT drafts nodes and relationships in your schema, and each draft waits for your review. Nothing is added until you approve it.

AI drafts in your schema, approved before anything is added.

MCP

Built-in MCP server for Claude Code, Codex and Claude Desktop

Connect them in one click from Settings. They can read your schema, search the graph, run read-only Cypher queries and propose new nodes and relationships. Their proposals wait in the same review list.

MCP tools
list_projectsget_shapesearchrun_cypherget_nodeshow_nodespropose_changescheck_proposal

Works with Claude Code, Codex and Claude Desktop. Queries are read-only; proposed changes wait for your approval.

Sharing

Share a graph on the web

File › Share to the Web publishes a read-only copy with its own link. Anyone can explore it and ask it questions in their browser. Sharing again updates the same link.

Local-first: what stays on your Mac

Stays on your Mac

  • Your graphs. Each project is a folder on your Mac, in an embedded graph database. Nothing is synced or uploaded.
  • Vector search. EmbeddingGemma runs on your Mac through llama.cpp, so searching by meaning sends nothing anywhere.
  • Your license. It's checked on your Mac, with no account and no check-in.

Goes to your own AI account

  • AI questions and drafting go through Claude Code or Codex, signed in to your plan. They see your question and your schema (the names of types and properties); when you draft, also what you paste or share.
  • Search by words, search by meaning and Cypher you write yourself use no AI.
  • A graph goes on the web only when you choose File › Share to the Web.

$97 once. No subscription required.

Launch price: $27 for the first 50 licenses.

Questions

Can I try it before I buy?

The graph at the top of this page and every public graph open in your browser, where you can explore them and ask them questions. There's no free trial of the app.

Which Macs does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

Do I need an API key?

No. Syncretic uses Claude Code or Codex on your Mac, signed in to your Claude or ChatGPT plan. Pick which in Settings. Without either, everything that doesn't need AI still works: building by hand, search by words and meaning, and your own Cypher.

Does it work offline?

Your graphs, search by words, search by meaning and Cypher you write all work offline. AI questions and drafting need your AI account, so they need a connection.

What does the app do without a license?

It opens graphs read-only, such as ones shared on the web. Creating and changing graphs needs a license.

macOS says it can't check the app. What do I do?

Syncretic isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS stops it. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to Syncretic. You only do this once.

What happens after the year of updates?

Syncretic keeps working, with everything it had. A license includes 1 year of updates, then $37/year to keep updating (optional): the updates plan renews by itself each year, and Syncretic picks up each renewal when it checks for updates. Subscribe before your year ends and the first charge waits until the day it ends; subscribe after and it's charged that day. Start it from Syncretic › License… or the updates plan page. Every version is on the changelog.

How do I cancel the updates plan, and what do I keep?

Click Manage Subscription in Syncretic › License…, or Manage subscription on the updates plan page, and cancel in Stripe's billing page. The plan runs to the end of the year you paid for, and you keep every version released until then, forever. Syncretic never stops working; it just stops offering newer versions.

How do I move my license to another Mac?

On the old Mac, choose File › Export All Projects… to save every project in one file, then open Syncretic › License… and click Remove from This Mac. On the new Mac, enter the key and choose File › Import Projects….

How long does the launch price last?

For the first 50 licenses. The count above is live. After that, Syncretic is $97.
